Train Your Brain With This Hand Exercise

Part 7 of the hand exercise series. Today we’re layering asymmetric movement, bilateral coordination, and proprioceptive challenge — each step gets harder, and most people lose the rhythm somewhere around exercise 3.

What’s happening in your brain during this:
Your hands take up a disproportionately large area of the motor cortex (the “homunculus”)

Asymmetric bilateral movement requires coordination between the motor cortex, cerebellum, and attention networks

The corpus callosum helps coordinate movement between the two hemispheres

Removing visual feedback shifts your brain’s reliance toward proprioception (your internal sense of limb position)

Repeated novel motor challenge has been associated with neuroplastic changes over time
